Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
I was arrested for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia in NJ in January 2009. I received an original court day for March of that year but it was supposed to be rescheduled. I never received any letters of a new court date until February of 2011, over two years since the incident. Is there anyway they would drop the charges since it has been so long? I have not had any other incidents prior or since. Is there a statute of limitations? Will they still have the evidence/should i fight the charges?
thanks for any information you can provide me

You can still be prosecuted for the offense even though the case obviously fell through the cracks, it would make sense to consult an attorney. If it is your first offense you may be eligible for a diversionary program. Please feel free to call me and I would be happy to discuss it with you. I never charge a fee merely to speak to someone about their case. (201)-894-9498
