Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

what does it mean

i was arrested for shoplifting but after i went to court the public defender said she talk to the DA to reduce it to loitering which happened.in the long run i paid a fine for 100 dollars.my question is if a record is runned on me or fingerprinted what would show up loitering or shoplifting and if loitering is it a criminal record

Loitering is not theft and shoplifting is. You dodged a bullet in terms of your future employment.

The arrest for shoplifting may appear but there will be no conviction.
