got arrested for shoplifting in saks today at short hills mall in nj the sum was 258$ the court day is on july,14 at newark nj the charge is 2c:20 -11b(2) need help what should be expected according with nj laws

This is a criminal charge and due to the dollar amount being in excess of $200 it will have to be referred to the higher level county court for review to see if you will be subject to indictment or if they want to keep it down in the municipal court. The court appearance on July 14, 2011 is for an arraignment where the judge will read the charges against you, read you your legal rights, and advise you to hire a lawyer.
