Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
Was arrested for theft in Nov 2011 prosecutors.have not yet given my attorney.copy of discovery they say they are still working on it. Is this a rare occurance? _

What you are telling me sounds strange. There should have been a preindictment conference at which your attorney was given at least preliminary discovery, such as police reports. If you have been indicted the discovey is ususally handed over before the arraigment on the indictment.
I have to disagree with Mr. Moore. If this is Ocean County, than not at all. It takes forever there. There are ways to speed it up but that may not always be the best way to go. Most of the time, I let it slide because time is on my client's side. If you have any other questions, call your attorney and ask him/her directly.
