Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
Assaulted by neighbor
I was assaulted by a female neighbor of mine. I am a female, too. It was totally unprovoked, and I did not hit her back. She did hit me in the face. I have witnessess, she does not. I called the police, and they took a statement. Of course, she said that I pushed her, but my witnessess told the police otherwise. She also verbally threatened me. She has an alcohol problem, and has had problems with other neighbors before. Police were called for those incidents, too. She never hit anyone before though. I would like to know what I can do. I would like her arrested. After my witnessess give a formal report, the police said they will issue a warrant for her arrest. Can you tell me what else I can do, if anything? Thanks.

I just received your question today from lawguru, sorry for the delay in answering.
You can also hire an attorney to sue her for money damages. Did you go to the hospital or to any doctor because of the injuries?
