Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Auto Repair Time Frame

I Have A 1991 Ford F-150 Pick-up Truck, that i sent to a local auto repair shop to fix a oil leak, i was told that it need`s a rear main seal and a oil pan gasket, now mind you that i droped off this work truck of mine on or about december 13th 2004. after about a month they repaired the oil leaks, but told me i needed a cable for the transmission, then he said he sent it out to a friend that own`s a gas station to fix it, that was three week`s ago. i still don`t have my work truck back. everytime i call to find out when it will be ready, they tell me that they are waiting to hear back from the guy fixing the transmission. day one i asked how much it would cost, he said don`t worry when im done you will be smiling. never gave me a price or a ball park figure. and he know`s that this truck of mine is my bread and butter. do i have grounds for legal action here ?

Re: Auto Repair Time Frame

Just go and get your truck back, even if it needs to be towed to another garage. Contact your automobile insurance company, local Chamber of Commerce or Better Business Bureau to see if there are any other garages that they may reccomend. If he will not give you your truck back, then you can go to your local police station and file a complaint for theft by "conversion" (taking your thing with your permission, but then refusing to return it to you). Good luck.
