Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
what does no bail mean?
My boyfriend was recently incarcerated and I called to find out what the bail is. He has several charges against him and on one they said theres ''no bail.'' I've never been in trouble and found it difficult dealing with the justice system. Could someone please clarify this for me?

Re: what does no bail mean?
No bail means that the charge is so serious that the judge does not feel that the person could be safely let out of jail. You don't say what the charge is, but your boyfrined does need a lawyer. I am an attorney who has handled many cases similar to this in various courts in New Jersey in the past. I would like to discuss this with you in more detail. Please contact me at your convenience - I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

Re: what does no bail mean?
Bail is a condition which must be met before a person can be release from jail while a criminal charge against him is pending. It takes the place of the person as security. It is usually a sum of money. No bail means that the person can not be release on bail.
The no bail status can be attacked in Court.

If he has no bail, it means that he violated his parole or something along those lines or that he has very, very serious charges against him. Before you rush to bail him out, I suggest you see an attorney first for two reasons.. Number one, your money is better spent on an attorney. Number two, the attorney can get the bail lowered thus saving you money that you will never get back if you go with a bail bondsman.
My initial consultations are always free, so call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss his case.
