Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

I was out at bar when 4 men threw my friend to the ground and got on top of them. They were employees of the place. I ran over and pulled the first guy off with what some people would call a "head lock". Well, the man happened to be the owner of the bar. The cops came and he was saying he wanted to press charges but then he calmed down some and he decided not to. Now it's been 4 days later and he's telling people he's going through with the charges. There were no punches thrown just trying to get the guys off of my friend. Can this guy really make a case out of this?

Sure, he can. To be charged and arrested is a very simple thing....a conviction is somewhat harder.

And by the way, the guy who comes to the aid of another in a hockey fight gets tossed from the game. But in the law there is a provision for the defense of others. I've used it many times successfully to defend people in your situation.
