Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Is it okay if I use a blunt weapon for self defense in NJ if I was attacked by more than two people. Is it against the law to break someones arm with the weapon in the same situation?

Each case is unique so I can't give you a definite answer until I see all the facts/evidence in your case. Self defense though is just that - a defense to a criminal charge. It does not necessarily prevent a charge from being brought against you. If you broke someone's arm while defending yourself then it may be seen as use of excessive force and not premissible self defense. As I said, I would need more information before I could give a full answer. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-
