Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

My boyfriend was charged with (4 counts) 1.shoplifting-take, carr ~2. shoplifting-take, carr ~3. crim attempt-substan ~ 4. conspiracy. He has a criminal past, but what are the chances of getting this down graded to a lesser charge that doesnt carry jail time? He and a friend was caught on tape. Although the friend is the one that actually did all the stealing and conceiling. My boyfriend pushed the shopping cart out of the store, but he actually never touch any of the stolen items. He also did infact drive the friend to the store. But again, he never touched any of the stolen items. Does my boyfriend have a good enough case to get it down graded to a lesser charge? Also my boyfriend past does not include shoplifting or theft, and his friend has several shopliting/theif charges from the past.

Its quite simple. With a good attorney, lesser chance. With a bad attorney, not that great of a chance. Of course, since there is a co-defendant, that will complicate matters but I've had those cases before where I did all the heavy lifting. Call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss.

Each case is unique, and there is almost always a possiblity of some sort of getting a lesser charge or lesser penalty by a plea bargain. Before you even get to that point I would review the evidence to see if there was any chance of winning the case completely. Please call me to discuss this case in more detail. I never charge for talkiing to a person about their case. Thank you.

Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-
