Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

burglary charge

My ex roomate stole a painting. Him, his girlfriend, and I got into a heated argument over the 700 dollars the owed me on 1-04-09. The next day i come home to them in my room putting all my possessions outside and rummaging through my room. I flip out and both of them leave. An hour or so later the police knock on the door and then just come walking in 4 detetives deep. She went and told the police I threatened to hurt her and that i had stolen property in my room. So the police give me the restrainin order she put on me and then started looking through my room. Out they come with the painting that my ex roomate stole. He mustve stashed it in my room when he was rummaging threw it and putting things outside. Now im charged with burglary and theft for a crime that i took no part in. What should i do!

Re: burglary charge

You need an attorney and do not talk to anyone except your attorney. Charges are very serious, 3rd degree felony, where you are facing 3 to 5 yrs in state prison. I will be happy to give you a phone consultation.
