Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
Casey Anthony, as the accused does not that to take the stand in Florida. But she is also a witness to the crime of which she is accusing her father, cover-up of a crime. Can the prosecution call her as a hostile witness to that crime?
1 Answer from Attorneys
My understanding is that she and her father are charged with the same crime and she denies her involvement but accuses him of committing the crime. I would say that it is perilous for her to make any statement, while her charge is unresolved, without some written pledge of immunity from the prosecution. You must understand that this statement is not meant to be
advice as her lawyer because I know nothing about her case. I can give advice upon you or she
can rely once I have been hired and have done the necessary due diligence.
