Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Same charge, same day different towns..can i beat it??..CRAZY HELP

Me and my girlfriend both had suspended licenses. I drove her car registerted under her name.get stopped by a cop.i lied and said i was my friend and gave him 100% my friends info.my g/f also lied and said she was her sister, both claiming we didnt have our ids on us.the cop ran my friends info and all came back correct.he said the reason i pulled you over was because the owner of this car is suspended. not being the owner he said''have a nice day''let me go scott free. about 20 minutes later on the drive in a completely different town i get pulled over again. The cop asks for ID and i decide, try it again. We both lied again. This time he asked my girlfriends SSN. she stumbled.i on the other hand knew my friends by heart. He said the reason i pulled u over was becuase of the crack in the windshiled, but the registered owner is suspended.I say '' yea we got pulled over earlier today in the previos town and he told me that also, but i am not the owner obviously''.they searched the car and found mine and her wallet/id under the seat. The 2nd cop contacted the PD from the prvios town and i got charged with the same thing in both towns.Driving suspended and obstruction of justice.if the 1st cop did his job, 2nd never happens CAN I BEAT THIS?

It's unclear as to why the police in the second town searched the car. That may be an avenue to look at. The two of you should both get lawyers. If you can't afford a lawyer, ask the Judge to appoint a public defender.

As to the driving while suspended, the police/prosecutor need to prove that you had legal sufficient notice that you were suspended before they can convict you of this charge. They may or may not be able to prove this. The mere fact that you knew you were suspended does not always matter. As to the obstruction of justice, this may be harder to beat since you did in fact get caught in a lie. However, I would have to review all of the evidence in both cases to give you a complete answer as to what could be done. I am an attorney who has handled very many cases similar to yours in various courts in New Jersey in the past. I would like to discuss your case with you in more detail. Please contact me at your convenience to talk about this. I never charge for simply talking to people about a case. Thank you.

Sincerely yours, Ronald Aronds, Esq.

You are a victim of your talking too much to the second cop. You need an attorney; you made a small case involving driving while suspended into a criminal case by using false identification.

If you keep thinking the way you are thinking you find yourself serving a jail sentence.
