Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
i was charged with 2c:21-5c(3). what should i do? this is my first charge ever. im 24 and really dont wont it to be on my record. will it be safe if i go to court with a public defender?

You will be safe if you have a competent attorney representing you. The quality varies among
public defenders and you will have no control over which public defender is assigned to you.
I should also tell you that the statute which you have cited is for writing a bad check with a value of $200.00 or more, a fourth degree crime, which is punishable by up to 18 months in
prison. Since it is a theft charge a conviction which make your employment prospects very dim.
You should take the safe route a select a good lawyer.
