Re: I have been charged with prostitution what will happen next?

This is a potentially serious charge since any case being heard in the superior court carries the possibility of state prison time and very high fines. The procedure in the superior court criminal section is way too complex to describe in this e-mail, but suffice to say you do need an attorney to represent you. If you feel that you cannot afford to hire a private attorney then you can call the court to find out how you can get the paperwork to apply to have the Public Defender's office represent you. They will review the paperwork and make the decision about whether your income and assets are low enough to qualify for representation by the pubic defender. If you do not qualify I would request that you contact my office to discuss your case. I have handled many cases similar to yours in various courts throughout New Jersey in the past, and I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case.

Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-

I suggest you get a private attorney, but if you want a public defender, just tell the court. They will give you one at some point if you qualify.

My initial consultations are always free, so call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss your case.

Re: I have been charged with prostitution what will happen next?

Why would you want a public defender?? Wouldn't you feel more comfortable with a lawyer you knew and would be able to call with questions?

I charge very reasonable fees for first time offenders. I think you will be able to sleep a little better at night if you knew the person handling this case.
