Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

clearing the record

Police responded to a disturbance next door to us. We were inside our home during the incident. The police saw one of our roommates enter our house and proceeded to bang on our door. We did not respond because we were not involved in the situation nor did we want to be. A week later everyone on the lease received a summons citing them with 2 criminal charge counts, obstruction of justice and reckless and tumultuous behavior. After appearing in court the charges were dropped. I would like to know that even though we were never formally arrested, are this charges on our records and do we have to get them expunged
