Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Why would a complaint be moved from municipal court to county court? Do the prosecutors at the county level decide if there is enough evidence to try to get a conviction, and if not do they usually dismiss the charges?

Only the County Court (Superior Court) can hear felony convictions. If the Prosecutor's Office decides that there is not enough evidence, they usually send it back down to municipal court (called a remand). An attorney can help this happen. Otherwise, you may get indicted.
