complaint-summons ticket

What does it mean if you get a complaint-summons ticket with no mandatory court date listed on it?

The legal requirements for issuing a complaint-summons are pretty loose in NJ. The fact that there is no date on it is not going to be considered important, other than the fact that you don't know what date you have to be in court.

Just like any other charge, you really need to discuss the details with a lawyer to see what defenses you may have and the best way to protect you.

If you have been charged with a crime you would be protecting your best interest by call the court and making a reasonable inquiry. Otherwise, you may find yourself being arrested on a bench warrant and sitting in jail at an inconvenient time, such as the weekend when the court is closed.

It means that you should call an attorney and have him or her call the court to see if there is a a court date. Then start working on a defense to the charges.
