compliance investigation
i'm an ex-employee and was suddenly ask to go to my ex-employer office for questioning on a compliance issue

Well there's no question here really, but I suggest you talk to an attorney. It could be nothing or you could be the fall guy for something you had nothing to do with. Anything you say could be used against you in the resulting criminal action.
