Re: no contest law

In New Jersey state criminal law there is no such plea as "no contest". If you have a criminal charge against you then you either plead "guilty" mor "not guilty". If you have a specific criminal matter you are involved in, please note that I am an attorney who practices criminal law in New Jersey. I can be reached at 908-272-0111 to discuss the specifics of your case. Thank you.

Re: no contest law

You are referring to a position one can sometimes take in reference to a criminal charge whereby guilt is not denied and is not admitted, but the court proceeds to mete out punishment. There is no such plea postion under the criminal law of New Jersey. One either pleads not guilty or admists guilt by pleading guilty.

Re: no contest law

In NJ the equivalent of a "no contest" plea would be something like PTI (pre-trial intervention) where you do not necessarily plead guilty, yet you are under court supervision for a certain period of time and then your case is dismissed. That is as close to no contest as you can get in New Jersey.
