Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Hello

I was convicted of a 4th degree crime theft by unlawfull taking and have to do 5 years probation. I would like to know why is it required for me to take a drug test since it was not a violent crime or a drug crime.

First of all, did you go to trial and lose or did you enter into a deal?

Second, when you are on probation, you have to do what they tell you to do. If you want to change that, you will have to file a motion.

You are required to fulfill the terms of your probation. If you don't like the terms, ask your lawyer to file a petition to modify them, or hire a new lawyer to do it.
