Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

I am a 32 year old female with no prior history and about two weeks ago I was bit by a pitt bull and since then I havent been right. to get to the point I went to the hospital a few times telling them things are not right with me...ie getting sick, not sleeping panic attacks, etc. so that night they gave me a few perscriprtions. One was for six xanex and i changed it to 26 on the script. I went to two different pharmacies and one gave it back and the other said they couldn't fill it and they kept it and to ask the hospital why. I knew why so I said ok and left. Then later that day i went to Kmart to get some stuff that i needed like medice mostly, but couldn't afford it so I tried to steal it and got caught. I am on unemployment, taking care of my mother who has breast cancer, in school for law...go figure, and contantly looking for jobs. so I am screwed...am I going to jail? I can't afford a lawyer at this point or bail if and when it is set...how or what can I do?

You can call my office to discuss. do you know whose pit bull it was? aybe we can file a claim for damages against them.

You are facing 3rd degree charges, but without a criminal record you may not go to jail.
