criminal simple assult charge

can my son plead self defence, because the man came to my sons house to threaten him, and my son felt if he did not stop the threat , he would be harmed.

He can use it as a defense, but I don't suggest going up against the prosecutor without an attorney. I can't imagine that the judge would even allow him to proceed without an attorney.

The use of a reasonable amount of force to defend oneself is a valid defense to a charge of assault. He needs the services of an attorney.
