Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Criminal Theft

Is there any chance for a 2nd theft offense of not going to jail, if full restitution is paid back to the victim? FBI questioned me a few weeks ago and so far I have not heard back.

Re: Criminal Theft

Maybe but I would need a lot more detail as to the amount and circumstances before hazarding a solid guess. I have been successful in this regard before but a lot will depend on the information/evidence the FBI has and what you said to them.

You need to gather all of your documents and proofs and get to a lawyer ASAP.

We have a number of lawyers here who could assist you. Please call for an appointment if you are interested.

Re: Criminal Theft

It is a matter of the value of the item or things stolen. Under New Jersey

criminal code a conviction of theft of something worth $75,000 or more requires a prison sentence. If the amount of the theft is less than $75,000 avoiding jail is possible.

Being interviewed by the F.B.I is not a good sign because they do not normally deal with petty offenses.

Call me if you like.
