Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Criminal warrants

My brother has a warrants for his arrest in NJ. Today I called to try to get information on the warrant. There is actually three warrants for his arrest. I explained to them that he now resides in Florida and wanted to know what steps to take to help him clear this up. I was advised that the warrant only extends to a 500 mile radius and anything beyond that they would not extradite him. Does this sound fesable? Thank you for your help.

I am a bit puzzled by what the police told you. A bench warrant on a criminal charge will get you arrested anywhere in the United States if you are stopped by the police and they discover the warrant in a record check. The fact that the new jersey authorities have a policy of not traveling more than 500 miles to pick up a fugitive on a low level criminal matter will not prevent some period of jail detention wherever the criminal warrant is discovered.

To clear up the criminal matters it is necessary to hire an attorney.
