Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
daughter incarcerated for cds & vop
my daughter violated probation in 2007, she has been ''looking over her shoulder'' for the past two years, she has been working, paying child support for her 6yr old daughter and staying clean. she has been too afraid to turn herself in because of the fear of going to prison. on 3/3/09 she was arrested for driving with someone with warrants who had drugs under their drivers seat, she is now in elizabeth jail waiting to get bailed out to go to sussex county to find out what will happen to her. i have the money for the bail but cannot get a bondsman to deal with me because i do not work and live on social security. the sooner she gets to sussex the sooner we can find out what will happen to her. she seems to think she is looking at 3-5 years in state prison? she is CLEAN, responsible and not the same person she was two years ago, if i had $10,000.00 i would hire a lawyer and i'm sure her chances would be better than being told by a public defender with 300 other cases to ''do the time'' i am at my wits end because i can't even get a lawyer to talk to me without big bucks on the table, can you PLEASE HELP ME to help her, even with a bondsman that would take my $300.00, her bail is set at $2500.00, PLEASE????????

You need to consult with an experienced person right away. I think you should focus on getting your daughter released and then focusing on the past and present problems.
There is more that a lawyers would need to know to give more detailed advice. But the PD's office does generally do a good job so do not rule them out as a viable option.
We have a number of lawyers here who could assist you. Please call for an appointment if you are interested.
