Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
Ok. Here's the deal. About 7 years ago I was hooked on drugs really bad and a long story short, I am wanted for three Superior Court criminal warrants in NJ for failing to appear for a status conference hearing and an arraignment interview on charges of fraud, theft, forgery, assuming false identity and credit card theft. I was told by the courts that the warrant, which is from NJ, has a 500 mile radius and since I now live in South Florida I want to know if they can change the warrant status to cover a larger area. I have been on a cruise and had to go through customs and no one even blinked an eye and I have even been pulled over by local police for speeding and, while it showed up, I was not arrested. This happened twice. Today my Dad called and told me I was in the paper as most wanted in that particular county. I'd love nothing more than to take care of this and put it behind me but I'm afraid that if I turn myself in I will get jail time and I cannot afford that to happen. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If your cases have that much notoriety, I'd be afraid that someone would turn me in....
A warrant issued by the Superior Court Of New Jersey on an indictable criminal matter can be
enforced anywhere within the United States and it's territories. It may be that through some glitch your warrant was not found, but it WILL pop up eventually and when it does you will be arrested and held for extradition to New Jersey.
You need to hire an attorney in New Jersey so that you can surrender because, if you surrender
in New Jersey and save the state the expense of sending two officers to pick you up and, perhaps, to pay for airfare, getting a new, reasonable bail will not be so dirfficult.
