Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
I'm in deep
I have a very real problem, and I am
wondering how much legal trouble I
will get in. I am a nanny for 5
children ages 6-15. The children are
coming from a very unstable
background which they just got out
of 2 years ago. The 15 year old is
extremly disturbed and under a
momnet of weakness and other
factors leading up to this point, I
ended up buying a six pack of beer
for her and her friends. She was
trying to get ti illigilly and I figured it
was better if I knew where it came
from and where she was. I know it
was wrong and I will never do it
again. However she expects it again
and is holding this over my head if I
don't help her again. If I tell on
myself, what kind of trouble I am
talking about? Is this a felony? Jail
time? How much can they sue me
for? I am trying to find another job
but I can't find anything right now.
Please help!!!

You should really get an attorney to handle this for you. You may be in a no win situation. If you admit to it, it will be hard to defend you at trial. If you lie about it, that will also be used against you. Having an attorney handle what you say, when and to whom will go a long way in helping you out here.
My initial consultations are always free, so call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss your case.

Do not get in deeper. Doing it twice may cause you to go to jail. DO NOT
REPEAT WHAT YOU HAVE DONE.

If you haven't been charged with anything then you don't need a lawyer. My advice is to stop providing alcohol to a minor. If you are charged and convicted of this, it is what is called a Disorderly Person's Offense and the maximum penalty is six months in jail and $1,000.00 fine. Don't let a 15 year old blackmail you and stop providing the minor with alcohol and you probably won't have anything to worry about. If you do get charged, please contact me. Thank you.
