Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

dui and assaulting a police officer

got arrested for dui.. when arrested i was roughed up quite a bit.. also recieved resisting arrest and assault on a police officer..i was not combatin but just trying to protect myself while getting roughed up.. handcuffed and hog tied within a minute. i have no priors or any arrests in my life. i'm hiring a lawyer..can i get the assault charges dropped..what should i do... I did not assault anyone.. i was put to the ground very quickly.. yes i was pretty mad and mouthy , but i didnt deserve to get the crap beat out of me.. and they seemed to have this down to a science where the positioned me ..out of view of the police camera..this all took place in front of my car (tests and the roughing up) and out of view of the camera. i deserve the dui, but all the other charges i would like to get them dropped.. do i stand a chance..

There is always a chance but it won't be easy. Just had a case like this about a year ago. It was not easy, but our guy turned out ok. Call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss.

Re: dui and assaulting a police officer

I agree there is alot of work to do quickly. You need to try to preserve certain evidence like the logs to dispatch and determine if any of the officers' cars had video.

As a former Assistant Prosecutor and defense attorney I have experience with these types of matters.

I would be happy to follow up with you. Please email me directly or call my office if you would like to schedule an appointment either in person or by telephone. My contact information is listed in the links below.
