Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
in th ecompany of drug possession
Hi,
I am curious about the laws concerning drug possession in NJ. See, I recently started dating someone and though I am not sure I think he may be using cocaine. I am concerned about what would happen if he was ever caught with anything on him and I was with him, or we were in my car. I am a teacher and cannot be exposed to that. As I said I'm not sure he does use drugs, but just in case I need to kow what I'mon for. I have never touched the stuff and have no record at all, lke I said I'm a teacher which required a full background check.

Re: in th ecompany of drug possession
There is a risk of being charged whenever someone is with you that has illegal drugs in their possession. This is particularly true in cases where it is found in or about an automobile (since prosecutors argue "joint possession") and where the auto can become part of the charges.
My wife is a teacher so I am most sensitive: best to avoid the situation with a zero tolerance policy.
