Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Ex-Felon LLC and Business owner??

I have a felony on my record, it has been 7 years and I have a group of people that want to form a LLC with me and open up a bar in the state of NJ? Is forming an LLC possible for someone like me? Can I even own a bar in the State of NJ or will I hurt their chances of liquor licenses, etc. in the long run? I have great credit, an excellent job and the financial resources.

Re: Ex-Felon LLC and Business owner??

The bar is against an owner ten percent or more of a liquor license who has been convicted of a crime of moral turpitude. Theft is a crime of

moral turpitude. Also a known prostitute, gangster, racketeer, notorious criminal or person of other ill repute can not be on the premises

with a liquor license, habitually.

The question is whether you were convicted of a crime of moral turpitude. Fraud would be a crime of moral turpitude because it is actually a form of theft.

Call me if you like.
