Extortion and Harrassment
Hello,
On July 2006 a judgment was entered against us for $4,320.25 from the Superior Court of Hudson County, NJ. This is the money we owe our old landlord, we are currently paying it off monthly to the court's officer's attention. The ex-landlord continues to send us court forms stating we owe more monies in interests on top of the $4,320.25. Every month we get court papers and the interests increases by $200. Would this act be considered extortion and harrassment? Please let me know I am ready to countersuit him to stop this situation which is stressing my family.

By law, all judgments continue to accrue interest either by operation of an pursuant to the underlying contract, or by statute. You can contact the clerk's office to find out the current interest rate.
