Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
extortion in nj property closing
I recently sold my home in nj. During my move out, I packed the existing refrigerator and shipped it to storage. I replaced it with another refrigerator. We had a pre-closing walk-thru with the new refrigerator in place and functioning and then we closed on our home. At closing, there was no mention of the refrigerator. Now that these people own the home, they are threatening to sue for Fraud if we do not return the other refrigerator. I feel like they are trying to extort money from me after the fact. What are my leagal rights to counter sue for extortion?

Re: extortion in nj property closing
If they had a walk through before the closing and saw the refrigerator BEFORE the closing there is no misrepresentation as to the refrigerator. Extortion is a crime.
