Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
false arrest
I was falsey accused of theft from a previous employer after 2 month's of not being employed there a detective came to my new place of employment and arrested me,he then told me of the charges, which i denied and had proof of,he declined looking at my proof, then at my request i testified in front of the grand jury and presented all my evidence and the charges against me were dropped, can i file a civil action against detective and police and my former employer for false imprisonment or what can i do to get some justice for all that was done to me.i feel this was a retaliatory act since after leaving i filed a complaint to dept of labor for wage's my employer illegally withheld

Re: false arrest
You appear to have a strong civil claim against your former employer. As for the detective, the claim may be worth asserting, but it may be more difficult to prove. The entire situation strikes me as being one worth pursuing.
Good luck!
