Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Fine not paid

In 1982 was 18 yrs.old shoplifted a perfume. First ofence was fined 75 dollars but never paid it .So now what can i do to to fix that or do i have another problem.

You must pay the fine as soon as possible. The problem that you have created is that the five year period

that must elapse before a shoplifting conviction can be expunged only begins to run when the sentence is completed; the probation is served and all fines and court costs are paid. You have to wait five years from NOW to file to expunge your shoplifting conviction.
