Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Forgery and Counterfeiting (juvenile)

I had posted a question before regarding my niece, who counterfeited 40 bus tickets using a scanner and computer ($60 in value). We just realized that the tickets also had a signature on it (of the president of the bus company). I just wanted to know what are some of the possible charges she may have to face?

I am also being told by others that this is a Federal Crime, is that true?

Who's investigating the case? I suggest she get an attorney ASAP before she digs herself a hole she can't get out of. The fed's may or may not get involved, I wouldn't worry about that really. Worry more about how you are going to help her get out of this mess.

My initial consultations are also free, so call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss her case.

Is that because the bus route cross some state line or lines? It sounds like very small potatoes for federal court; it is only a state court matter. I suppose that forgery is a possible charge. It all depends on what her prior criminal history is. If she has a record as a bad person she has a greater problem than a first offender which might entitle her to dismissal of the charge or charges after a period of supervision.

Call me if you like.
