Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

I have a friend that has been incarcerated for a week for simple assault, they seen the judge and got a $1000 bail set. I called the jail the day of their court appearance to verify the bail amount and was told about the $1000 bail. It has taken me a couple days to get the cash together and I haven't had a chance to talk to my friend so I called the jail to re-confirm the $1000 bail and they confirmed the amount but said there is "no bail" which is now added (which I was not told about the first time I called)

So my question is, what does no bail mean? And if I go to the jail to pay the $1000 cash bail that they have as well as the no bail, can i bail them out? I am confused and I am assuming that with the no bail they cannot be bailed out? Is this so?

Call the court that set the bail and explain the problem. It may just be a failure of the court to transmit the bail information.
