Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
I sent my girlfriend a text on line and called her a whore. she said if she finds out who it is she is going to send the person to jail. i am terrified. can i go to jail for this

I do no believe that one text message constitutes an offense which should be charged against you. Apparently, you made the comment because you believed the term described her conduct with other men.. Just do not send her any more emails. Secondly, on a first offense conviction for disorderly persons offense harassment a noncustodial sentence is presumed.
