Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
Need some help
My girlfriend and her 4 year old son were recently at my condo down the shorein NJ. During the day she had 2 vodka and sprite’s about 8:30 in our condo. She made some dinner and accidently left the stove on low. She fell asleep at about 10:00. she is a very sound sleeper and she told me she wasn’t intoxicated but had a slite buzz. 3 officers arived and entered our condo. When she woke up she was very confussed and scared to the point she blacked out . she remembers entering the police car. When she arrived at the police station she was told she was being charged with assalting a police officer and resisting 2c-12-1b (5) (a) & 2c-29-2a (3) (a). I know she is a sound sleeper and has jumped when i woke her myself. These officers (all male) also took her out in her underware and a halfshirt, when she arrived at the police station they gave her a pair of my shorts that were in a dresser an officer grabbed . They told her the reason DYFS wasn’t called is because they feel it was an accident with the stove and they also said they know they startled her. What is the proper procedure for this scenerio . I also talked to the local fire chief that told me my rented condo has not been inspected

Right now the matter sounds contained. Consult with counsel ASAP to resolve it before it becomes a bigger issue.

What a mess. She should speak with an attorney ASAP. I have an office in Toms River and I would be happy to speak with either of you to discuss the case.
