Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
Gun Possession
A good friend crossed state's line into NJ 10 yrs ago with a legally purchased gun. The gun was confiscated and he was told that if he relinquished ownership of the gun, that the matter would be considered dealt with. This was done and he never heard back from anyone on the matter. On a routine traffic stop in NJ, a check on his license resulted in him finding out that there was a warrant for his arrest and he was carted off to jail. It has been a week now and no bail has been set. What needs to occur to ge him out on bail? How likely that after 10 yrs this charge will go away? He has no criminal record and is an upstanding member of his community.

Re: Gun Possession
Bail should have been set by now.
He is not facing anything significant. Should get probation.
Please call me to discuss.

Re: Gun Possession
Your friend should already have a bail set. Your friend REALLY needs to speak with an attorney ASAP! From the scenerio you describe he could be facing some very serious charges. You do not indicate what county this is in.
Best of Luck.
