Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
Harassment charge
It has been brought to my attention that a woman that I was in an altercation with at a club on 4/20/07 is filing a harassment charge against me.
We got into an altercation after a few words over a spilled drink. She ultimately smacked my hand away which started the fight. I have photo evidence of bruises and scratches on my person. Police arrived at the club, and I spoke with them and gave them my information, name, address, etc., but there were no arrest made. I understand that the harassment charge was made last week. I have not seen nor heard from this woman since that night. And I don't even know her name?
How good is her case of harassment against me? And more importantly, what are the repercussions of such an charge.

Re: Harassment charge
What you are describing doesn't even sound like it fits into the harassment statute. Potentially you are facing high fines and jail time if you are convicted. I am an atorney who has handled many cases similar to yours in various courts throughout NJ in the past. I would like to discuss your case with you in more detail. Please contact me at your convenience. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

Re: Harassment charge
How good the case is only a trial can tell but it sounds as though you have a good defense. You might consider filing your own charge for what she did to you.
Call me if you like.
