Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
Harrasment
I have been having a neighbor problem for over two years. I am in law enforcement and have to follow the letter of the law to protect my career. My neighbor Husband/wife have been constantly harrassing my family. Two years ago while friendly with the people, my wife and I were told by numerous other neighbors that the duo was telling the neighbors how much money was in our bank accounts(she used to work at the bank and bragged about having friends who worked there look up our accounts)after this happened we ended our friendship.Since then the duo have constantly called the water department stating we were watering on the wrong days and times(water restrictions)causing the water company to pay us numerous visits.Calling the police if my car was parked on their side of the street.calling the dog warden claiming my dog attacted her 10 days after my dog died. (Animal control came to my door demanding to remove my dog upseting my family) Telling one neighbor my wife was talking about her which caused her to come to my house treatening my wife. Now the duo has gone to my work and filed a complaint with my administration about god knows what. Being in law enforcement, I am very reserved in what I can do. Is there any recourse I have?

Re: Harrasment
You should document all of these events, including the dates they happened, and then contact the police to ask them to file a harassment charge against your neighbor. If the police won't file the complaint, then you can file it as a citizen's complaint.

Re: Harrasment
You will have to file a lawsuit your neighbors and pursue it vigorously.
You should attempt to document everything which they have done.
You might consider reporting your neighbor violated state and federal law by violating a confidential relationship to the United States Attorney's Office and the state attorney general's office. I am not terribly familiar with the banking laws but I would think she may have committed some criminal or civil violation
in divulging your banking information while an
employee of the bank. You might consider suing the bank when you sue her.

Re: Harrasment
While the prior responses are certainly valuable, it would be my suggestion that you retain an attorney who would first write to the neighbors asking them to cease and desist their actions or face a civil suit seeking restraints and damages. If they don't stop, sue.
