Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Hello,

I live in New Jersey, in Atlantic County. My brother recently had a issue with some kid. Apparently "kid" is accusing my brother of harassment or some charge because my brother supposely told him that, he will kill him if he sees him near his girl. This "kid" is claiming he received emails, and face to face conversation with my brother. According my brother he never met the "kid". However he did tell his so called girl, that if my brother seen anyone with her he will kill her... bla bla bla.

Well the parents of the "kid" went and pressed charges against my brother. I am not sure but I am guessing its harassment charge of some kind. On the date of court my brother pleaded not guilty. The judge says to come in and talk to public defender or something on the new court date.

Could someone please tell me, what kind trouble can he get into. How far this can go, what can he possibly charged for etc. Please help me, I have no idea how all this works. This is the first time, we've got into this kind of situation... any help would be appreciated.

Threatening to kill someone is usually called a terroristic threat, a very serious charge. Hire an attorney if you can.
