Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

hindering one's apprehension and theft of service

My friend got arrested on the Newark city subway for not having his monthly pass with him on the train. he gave the police officer part of his name and an incorrect SSN and address. If he can prove in court that he had a monthly pass that he's always bought one for the past 6 months will they drop the only one charge or both. in that case what could happen to his reccord on the hindering charge does he need a lawyer? Is hindering a criminal charge or misdemeanor?

If he gets convicted of either, he is looking at having a criminal record which I'm sure he doesn't want. Thus, I suggest he get an attorney to fight to get the case dismissed.

My initial consultations are always free, so call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss your case.

It is all a matter of which hindering offense was charged, a disorderly persons version or a criminal version.

It should be manageable by the right attorney.
