How many times can one be tried in a criminal case?

Until someone gives up. It is rare for someone to be tried more than twice for the same event because there are not too many cases where there are two HJ's in a row is rare. If that happens either the plea will get really good or the State will drop the case.
Shouldn't your lawyer be telling you this?

Several times would not be unusal. I know of no situation where there were more than four retrials. I have never had the need to research the issue thoroughly, but I am willing.
