Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

My husband was accused of theft by deception at his place of employment,he used company gas card for gas for his vehicle to get back and forth to work.When confronted he admitted this due to fact I had became severly ill and he lost alot of work.He offered to make restitution but they gave him a court dat as of yesterday in a municiple court for monday for theft deception charges Does he need someon to defend him

Yes. You seem to already know that he needs the services of an attorney. A theft charge must be handled with great care to avoid a conviction which will keep him unemployed.

In response to your question, I would never advise anyone to go to court on a criminal charge without a lawyer. When you go to court tomorrow plead Not Guilty and ask for an adjournment to hire a lawyer. After court contact my office to discuss your husband's case in mnore detail.
