Can you be indicted on charges and not be notified of the

charges and have to read it in the Newspaper & on

someone's, website?

If you were indicted and had no notification can it

Re: Indictment

Grand Juries hear a presentation by the prosecutor's office and determine if the prosecutor has enough information to indict and charge you. Grand Jury sessions are closed and secret. Information may be presented that can not be admitted at the time of trial, and you have no right to address the Grand Jury.

After the indictment, this information is available to the public and can be printed. There is nothing you can do about it.

You can quote anyone you want, as long as it is accurate.

Re: Indictment

The quick answer is YES. Grand Jury hearings are not public hearing. The first time you get notice of an indictment and the charges would be at your first appearance at the Court, where your lawyer would receive the discovery (plea offer) and enter a not guilty plea on your behalf.

If you are facing criminal charges in NJ, I am a Criminal Defense attorney. I am a former State public defender. I will be very happy to give you a free phone consultation. My phone number is 201-646-9600.
