How long does the courts have to indict you on a crime before the charges can be dismissed

In New Jersey there is no 90 day rule as there is in New York. A criminal complaint charging a crime can be dismissed upon review of defendant's motion based upon a consideration of four factors, (1) length of the delay;
(2) the reason for the delay (3) the defendant's assertion of his right and (4) prejudice to the defendant resulting from the delay. An example of prejudice is that a witness has become unavailable.
