Re: Intensive Supervision Program
If the judge sentenced him to a "3 with a 1" what that means is that he was given a three year prison sentence, but he will not be eligible to apply for parole until he has spent one whole year in prison. The "with a 1" means "one year parole ineligibility", so if this is the sentence he was given he would not be eligible for parole in 9 months - he would have to wait at least one year. Also, you have to usually spend a number of months in prison before you can even apply for ISP, and if he is actually sentenced to a one year parole ineligibility it would not even make sense, nor do I even think it would be allowed, for him to apply for ISP. I am an attorney who has handled many criminal cases in various courts in New Jersey in the past. If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to call me at 908-272-0111. There is never any charge for simply talking to me about a case. Thank you.
