Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

In New Jersey what is the STATUE OF LIMITATIONS FOR A CIVIL JUDGEMENT concerning welfare fraud (Theft by Deception)? And How can you be arrested without knowledge of being arrested?

On 6-18-2009, I appeared in court to answer a warrant issued 12-5-1996 and the case was Dismissed. My background check as of 3-15-2010, states I was arrested the day after the court date on 6-19-2009 for that same case. The Charges are inaccurate I have information to support that, so what can I do to have this deleted or removed quickly? The Attorney I paid to defend me during the trial, has now created doubt in my mind about what was done for the entire process. I am not sure if I want to use him again for this case. Having this on my record will hinder my chances of working in law enforcement or any law agency which is my background. I really need help!

Thanks,

Given the dismissal you reference, you may be eligible for an expungement which would be helpful (in New Jersey at least).

This office routinely files them for clients. If we can be of help, please call for an appointment or other information.

What County was this in?

The entire record should be looked at--If they had your current address, you would and should have been notified of continuing charges against you---
